After escaping the savage clutches of his native NYC, Zach Cooper retreated to the warm slopes of the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina like so many New Yorkers before him. While he continues to develop his primary musical projects, among them King Garbage and kuxxan SUUM, Cooper has been keenly focusing the aperture of intention behind his music.
While attending the University of Vermont, Cooper was given the first ever Thomas L. Read Prize in Composition. An award presented by and with the namesake of his mentor/teacher, Thomas L. Read. Cooper has composed original music for St. Michael’s College, The Vermont Contemporary Music Ensemble, The New York Botanical Gardens and The Black Mountain Center for the Arts, among others. Cooper has performed in various capacities with bands King Garbage, (the) Mel Gibson, Mr. Shopping, SNOUT, STENCIL / MAGIC and other ensembles and orchestras. His music has been featured by XLR8R Magazine, The Fader, Ibiza Space Magazine, The 405 and released on Styles Upon Styles, Memory Foam, South Fork Sound, Last Night On Earth and Slanted Black. In 2010, Cooper and cohort, Arkady Sokolov, launched end fence, an all-digital free-label specializing in undiscovered high-quality electronic music. End Fence has featured such artists as Archie Pelago, Doctor Jeep, Create Her and Cooper’s own kuxxan SUUM moniker.
